Costa Rica's first swim up bar serving guests in a natural spring-fed 39 C degree (100 F) pool is still the country's best. Lively Latin and international music creates a festive atmosphere, where hotel guests and day visitors enjoy the cold eagles (Costa Rica's nickname for Imperial, the most popular local beer), a wide range of tropical fresh fruit drinks, or a variety of international classic cocktails and many local creations.
Favorite ingredients used in the Arenal Bar include fresh cut San Carlos pineapple, sweet papaya, juicy watermelon and mangoes in season. A long list of classic and nouvelle cocktails is headed by favorites like mojitos, Pina Coladas, our own Costa Rican Delight, Margaritas and Daiquiris.
The in-pool seats provide a vintage point for volcano viewing. The bar's snack and light lunch menu features local favorites like ceviches, nachos, burgers and sandwiches. Meals and drinks are served at the bar, on the tables under the umbrella or at the many lounge chairs available for resting and sun-bathing. Tables under the large umbrella are ideal for guests looking for a light lunch break that do wish to have a casual meal or snack and avoid the sit-down full service at Ave del Paraiso Restaurant.
The Arenal Wet (Swim up) Bar in Tabacon can be considered the resort's center for social activities. It is one of the favorite spots to interact with other resort guests and exchange Costa Rica travel tips. While Spanish and English are the typical languages overheard at the main pool and bar, it is not uncommon to meet guests visiting from Germany, Italy, France, Israel and other countries.
